On
October 29th, at the premises of European Commisson in Brussels, closed
door MIRRIS workshop was held in organization with MIRRIS Coordinator, META
Group and DG Research and Innovation, Unit B6, Reflective Societies.
The
aim of MIRRIS Workshop was to present the main findings of the 1st round of
policy dialogues held in the EU12 countries and Croatia, putting an emphasis on gaps and recommendations.
The
European Commission confirmed a high interest in MIRRIS initiative and
preliminary results of the 1st round of Policy dialogues conducted
in the above noted countries.
MIRRIS
Workshop has gathered over 40 participants, namely representatives of EU 13
Member States and EU candidate countries that were supported by presence of
Head of Units and Policy officers of the European Commission.
On
behalf of DG Research and Innovation, Unit B6, Reflective Societies, Mr. Zoltan
Krasznai, Project officer of MIRRIS initiative, welcomed the participants and
made the introduction of the event. On behalf of MIRRIS Coordinator, Mr. Andrea
Di Anselmo, Vice-president of META Group, gave the key note speech and
moderated the event. In addition, Mr. Di Anselmo, presented the lessons learnt
of the first round of policy dialogues, while Mr. Christian Saublens, Mrs.
Anita Tregner- Mlinaric and Mr. Andrea Ferrara presented respectively the fact
and figures of the analysis, the GAP analysis regarding the participation of
the above noted target countries and 29 good practices that were selected by
MIRRIS consortium.
The
above noted presentations were followed by Q&A session and further
presentations given by Ms. Tereza Krausova (Policy Officer at DG Regional and
Urban Policy) and Mr. Mathieu Doussineau (European Commission-DG JRC),
presenting the initiative Stairway to Excellence, and of Mr. Dimitri Corpakis (Head
of Unit at DG Research and Innovation) presenting the measures related to
Spreading of excellence and Widening of Participation.

About MIRRIS
MIRRIS (Mobilizing Institutional Reform for Research and Innovation Systems)
is a Coordination and Support Action aiming at identifying the
strengths and weaknesses of R&I performance in ERA and Framework
Programmes of the EU12 and Croatia and to propose new initiatives to
improve participation to Horizon 2020.
MIRRIS
seeks to promote a high level of participation and funding within the
European Research Area and Framework Programmes, by 1) understanding
success factors 2) identifying key actions and 3) mobilizing key
stakeholders for improving performance and better exploiting H2020 and
synergies with structural funds. To achieve this goal MIRRIS will
organize 3 rounds of policy dialogue in each target country, promote
mutual learning and prepare a road map for implementation.
MIRRIS
is funded under FP7 Social Sciences and Humanities programme and
implemented by a consortium of 12 leading organizations in the field of
research and innovation.
